What kind of office environment do you work in? Is it casual or is it strict? A recent experiment by two Dutch designers explored the different kinds of work environments and how they affect how we actually work. The range of styles began as modern-chill—a bed to work in, a pet rabbit, and nontraditional desks. It slowly evolved to feature less color, movement sensors that could detect when a worker took a coffee break and warned them of their crime via a virtual boss. The interesting result of the experiment is that workers were more productive in the stringent atmosphere as opposed to the “freedom phase.”
