Mini Movie is a Charming Christmas Ad
November 30, 2016
Christmas season is in full swing, and along with it the regular host of marketing pushes and tearjerkers to inspire consumers to buy. The holiday season frequently sees commercials and ads that play much like a cologne or perfume advert – mini movies, often featuring celebrity spokespeople. H&M employs the indie-favorite Wes Anderson and Anderson regular, Adrien Brody. What is fun (perhaps genius?) about pieces like this is that it subtly makes it point – it doesn’t ask consumers to endure outright calls to buy; instead, it weaves a story – in this case a Christmas dilemma on a train in which the actors are outfitted in H&M’s clothing. Anderson’s style is distinctive and he is no stranger to commercial work.
